General objectives<\/strong>
\nO1. Development of innovative zeolite-antibiotic-biopolymer biomaterials for controlled oral delivery of antibiotics
\nO2. Fostering scientific cooperation and joint research activities between the Romanian partner (INCDO INOE 2000, Research Institute for Analytical Instrumentation) and the Turkish partner (Istanbul University-Cerrahpa\u015fa) to increase the number of researchers and institutions involved in international collaborations and to enhance Romania’s participation in the EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation.<\/p>\n

Abstract<\/strong>
\nThe continuous improvement of existing drugs and the development of therapeutic systems in order to reduce the administered dose, extend the half-life, improve the drug delivery and direct the drug to the target area while minimizing side effects are matters of public concern worldwide. The project team comprises a Romanian research institute (INCDO INOE 2000, Research Institute for Analytical Instrumentation Subsidiary, ICIA) and a Turkish university (Istanbul University-Cerrahpa\u015fa, IUC). The project creates a complementary team of specialists in the modification of natural zeolites for different applications (ICIA) and the development of intelligent biomaterials using statistical approaches (IUC); it provides a solid basis for the use of natural clinoptilolite-based zeolites in the development of innovative solutions that respond the current demand for effective and safe medical therapies. The project aims to promote successful bilateral scientific research and cooperation by developing biomaterials by combining zeolite-antibiotic systems with biopolymers to facilitate antibiotic stability and controlled release. The project will promote scientific collaboration between the two teams, increasing the number of researchers and institutions involved in international collaborations and Romania’s participation in the EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation.<\/p>\n
