Objectives:
\ndecreasing the impact upon the quality of life through complex mechanisms (social and economic) based on the quality assessment of environmental factors-water, in extended urban areas in central Transylvania (Cluj, Mures and Salaj counties);<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
OBJECTIVES<\/b><\/td>\n\n
    \n
  • decreasing the impact upon the quality of life through complex mechanisms (social and economic) based on the quality assessment of environmental factors-water, in extended urban areas in central Transylvania (Cluj, Mures and Salaj counties);<\/li>\n
  • optimizing the prevention mechanisms by increasing the efficiency and creativity in the public administration educational systems in the areas in study located in midland Transylvania;<\/li>\n
  • promoting a complex program for controlling contamination with carcinogenic substances (THM) in order to ensure environmental quality as well as health and safety for the citizen in accordance with the European strategic priorities for environment and safety;<\/li>\n
  • organizing, development and consolidation of partnerships in the domain of ecology and environmental and human health protection, for the purpose of research development and promotion in accordance with the European environmental requirements.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

DESCRIPTION<\/b><\/td>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 For the purpose of reducing the negative impact generated by trihalomethanes (THM) generation in drinking water, the project addresses integrated issues of water quality and safety for consumers, offering a complex program to ensure water quality, with impact on the quality of life. Research will be developed in central Transylvania, in Cluj, Mures and Salaj counties. Trihalomethanes (THM) are present in drinking water as byproducts resulted from the water treatment process by chlorine disinfection. Due to the serious known effects on the human organism, including carcinogenic ones, in the EU countries THM are part of the list of priority hazardous substances in water. In order to achieve the project objectives, THM exposure control and medical monitoring of a target population group will be performed, appropriate strategies in order to reduce THM exposure and health monitoring will be developped within the project.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
