OBJECTIVES
  • the creation of an e-learning platform using the virtual models in hepatic laparoscopic surgery;
  • development of the e-learning system;
  • accessibility of this system at a world wide level which will integrate learning, research and evaluation;
  • forming the young specialists with a competence in the hepatic laparoscopic surgery, creating a collaboration between the centers of research in this domain, publishing scientific articles in the journals of their specialty and presentations of the work results at international scientific meetings;
  • initiation and then application at a large scale of a program of training and research in the field of hepatic laparoscopic surgery, which will be of use for young researchers and also counting as a continuous medical education.
DESCRIPTION            In the domain of this research project, we will promote the initiation, development and the use of a large-scale platform of learning of hepatic laparoscopic surgery that is based on the integration of a virtual model in an intelligentand adaptive system, which simulate the original surgical act. At the same time, the goal of this project is to develop an e-learning system (a kind of distant or virtual education) which will help in the process of learning and improvement of hepatic laparoscopic surgery. The e-learning platform created represents a new whole integrated system of teaching, learning, evaluation, based on the principle of modern education, on flexibility (using different languages, for different regions and for different levels of studies) and it permits a large accessibility for the users.
The addressability of the platform of e-learning is represented by the young surgeons and the researchers who are mainly preoccupied by hepatic laparoscopic surgery, as it is in its early stages of the utilization of this method in the surgical treatment of liver pathology in our country due to the fact that only some of the national centers are being capable to apply this method but only for very selected cases, not currently. This platform of e-learning can also be helpful for the experienced surgeons to obtain a competence in the minimally invasive hepatic surgery and in this way it will represent itself to be a multidisciplinary research domain of highest category.
The minimally invasive approach to the hepatic patholog ywill have a strong impact on the quality of life of the patients by decreasing the rate of complications, time and cost of hospitalization, rapid reintegration in the socio-professional life and also by offering a better and a wider view of the operating field.
The large addressability in case of the young surgeons who are interested in the competence in the field of laparoscopic surgery will lead to the improvement of the surgical act with an impact on the postoperative evolution.
In reproducing of the surgical act there will be integrated some of the algorithmic decisions of the most recent generation as like as genetic algorithms, the neuronal network and the decision making system based on fuzzy logic.
This system pursues the training of the young surgeons in the most advanced approaches of minimally invasive hepatic surgery and also the vocational development of some of the new techniques and also improvement of some of the already existing techniques by observing the radical improvement of the intra and postoperative evolution of the patients.
The development of this platform will initiate and will improve hepatic laparoscopic surgery with a scope to help the young Romanian surgeons to get a better recognition in the international field which will help them to integrate their activity in the different centers from abroad having the experience in this domain. The e-learning platform can also be used as a teaching tool, helping the centers from abroad with experience in this domain to propose new methods and techniques for learning and evaluation.
