Objectives:
Measurement traceability, uncertainty evaluation, method validation, interlaboratory comparisons and quality assurance and quality control are integral part of accreditation of laboratories. They must be implemented in order to fulfill requirements of the ISO/IEC 17025.

OBJECTIVES The general objectives of the proposed project are to develop strategies for assessing the uncertainty of measurement, developing strategies and procedures for validation and to establish procedures for quality systems in accordance with relevant standards (ISO/IEC 17025).

Specific objectives:

  • Establish strategies to reduce the measurement uncertainty in analytical stages (including sampling);
  • Visit to Slovenia to establish common strategies for validation and estimation of measurement uncertainty and training in HPLC;
  • Visit of Slovenian team to Romania to establish protocols for interlaboratory studies and training in ICP-MS and ICP-OES;
  • Validation of methods based on HPLC, IC, ICP-MS, ICP-OES, based on experiments on real environmental samples;
  • Visit to Slovenia for statistical evaluation of interlaboratory studies and creating common models for standard operating procedures;
  • Develop procedures for methods based on HPLC, IC, ICP-MS, ICP-OES and implementation in the laboratory;
  • Visit of Slovenian team to Romania for the implementation of methods based on chromatographic methods;
  • Making a draft proposal for a joint project financed from external sources;
  • Writting articles for dissemination of results.
DESCRIPTION Measurement traceability, uncertainty evaluation, method validation, interlaboratory comparisons and quality assurance and quality control are integral part of accreditation of laboratories. They must be implemented in order to fulfill requirements of the ISO/IEC 17025.
Specific activities will focus on implementation of metrological principles to environmental analysis. Development of methodologies will be underpinned by worked examples using ion chromatography, high performace liquid chromatography, ICP-MS and ICP-OES. Research will be focused on inorganic analysis (e.c. anions and cations in water and soil samples) and organic analysys (e.c. priority substances in water samples). Results of the project will contribute to comparability of results of measurements on international level. Development of metrologycal infrastructure in the field of metrology in environmental chemical analysis is highly relevant according to its influence to protection of water quylity. Results of the project will also provide support to laboratories, who want to obtain accreditation according to standard ISO/IEC 17025.
