OBJECTIVES
  • developing an innovative treatment system by individualized laparoscopic cryoablation of the localized kidney tumors, using computerized simulation on 3D reconstructed model.
DESCRIPTION The project brings a new minimal invasive and conservative therapeutic alternative for a certain patients to whom an extensive surgery is not recommended. Developing informatic tools to plan the treatment could give supplemental oncological security. The target of this project will be represented by urologists, as well as general surgeons, radiologists, pathologists, engineers specialized in image processing and simulation of the physical processes, young PhD students and residents. The beneficiary group comprises patients with symptomatic benign tumors, tumors on single kidney, bilateral tumors, or patients with familial inheritance.
RESULTS ESTIMATED
  • To provide laparoscopic cryoablation of the renal tumors;
  • To develop new informatics instruments of three-dimensional reconstruction and computerized planning of the cryoablative treatment by simulation;
  • To increase the interest of the young researchers and limiting the emigration;
  • To create new opportunities of international cooperation;
  • To exploit the scientific capabilities of the members from the research teams; Increase the involvement in high research;
  • To reveal the professional values by designing and managing the project, publishing articles in specialized journals.
