Objectives:
obtaining new, modern, nonconventional methods for detecting low concentrations of the estrogen hormonal compounds, their metabolites and of some xenobiotic hormonomimetic compounds in water sources;
research study on the influence of different methods of water treatment upon the hormonal compounds with estrogenic action.

DESCRIPTION | The project proposes to attain a complex research regarding the integration of the necessary measures for pollution preventing, reducing and controlling due to: 1) the presence of some steroidic hormonal drugs, xenobiotic, hormonomimetic estrogenic compounds and their derivates in water sources, by elaborating some new, modern, nonconventional methods for their detection at nanoscale range and 2) the influence of different water treatment methods upon drug compounds with estrogenic hormonal activity on test substances: steroid hormones (17β-Estradiol, Estrona, Estriol), growth hormones, alkylphenols (4-t-Octiphenol, 4-n-Nonilphenol), Bisphenol-A, Benzophenone and chloride derivates, etc. Monitoring the various chemical processes which may take place after water treatment (chlorination, ozonization), especially for degradation compounds which appear after these treatments (using analytical techniques suitable for these group of compounds like liquid chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry (LC-MS) and together LC-MS-MS, NMR spectrometry, atomic absorption spectrometry, ESR). A very important goal is represented by the elaboration of an bioautographic test for the estrogenic character assessment of a sample, by combining an analytical method of high performance thin layer chromatography (HPTLC) with a biological method of yeast cell based endocrine activity assessment. |
